Chapter Seven

Trip raced into Engineering as fast as he could. He saw some of the other officers working on the problem.

“Ensign,” Trip said, walking towards Ensign Ryan.

The young Ensign looked up. “Sir! I have isolated the problem.”

“Already?” Trip asked.

Ensign Ryan leaned down and jiggled two of the wires in the console. “These two..,” he began, when suddenly the whole room shook.

“Everybody out!!!” Trip shouted.

Everyone rushed toward the exit. Trip was the last one to leave. As he ran he flipped open the communicator that Malcolm Reed always had him carry.

“Tucker to Bridge!”

“Go ahead,” Malcolm said.

“Malcolm! There is a hull breach imminent in Engineering!”

After he ran through the last door he turned around and sealed it.

“I’m confirming a positive containment seal on F Deck,” Malcolm reported, grabbing his board as the ship shook.

At that moment, Captain Archer entered the bridge. “Report!”

“An explosion in Engineering,” Malcolm said.

“Any causalities? Jon asked.

Then Trip entered the bridge with Ensign Ryan behind him.

“Trip!” Jon said.

“Capn’.”

“Sir, I accidentally caused the explosion in Engineering,” Ensign Ryan said.

This I want to hear, Jon thought as he waved Ensign Ryan and Trip to follow him to his Ready Room.
