Chapter Five

“Who are ya?” Trip asked.

“My name is Ceron,” The old man said.

“Are you the one Xerion told me about?”

“Yes. I have been watching you for a very long time…,” the old man began.

“That a good thing or a bad thing?” Trip smirked.

“This is nothing to laugh at!” the old man yelled.

“Sorry. Jus’ it’s all so new to ma,” Trip told him.

“If you want to learn the power, you have to be serious,” the old man cautioned.

Trip seriously thought about it.

“This will take years to master,” The old man said.

“Years?!” Trip asked.

“Years in our time is only a one hour in Real Time. That is your time.” Ceron said to Trip’s confused look.

“It’s going to take years for my friends to get here?”

“At least five years.” Ceron answered.

Trip sighed. “Alright. I’ll do it.”

Ceron smiled and handed Trip a garment similar to his own.

“Put this on and we can begin,” Ceron said.

Five years later………………………………..

Trip sat on his throne over looking the crowd.

Only two months ago had he finished his training from Ceron.

Those five years had been the hardest.

Day after day of learning, only to be beaten and bashed from dawn till dusk.

Trip finally had learned all that Ceron could teach and had come back to the city.

Trip was anxious to see his friends whom he had missed for a long time.

Xerion entered the crowd, leading a group of people toward the Temple.

As she got closer, Trip peered at the people following her.

It was kind of hard to see, with this dark veil over his face, but Xerion had insisted that he wear it for the meeting.

Xerion and her charges walked up the steps and stopped before Trip.

She nodded to the soldiers and the separated.

Trip looked at the people.

He smiled. There was Jon, T’Pol, Malcolm and two security guards.

Trip got up and approached.

Jon, T’Pol, Malcolm nor anyone from the ship recognized him.

“It’s good ta see you again.” Trip said.

“Who are you?” Jon asked him.

Trip took off the veil.

“It’s me, capn’.” He said.

Everyone from the away team gasped.

“Trip? How did you get here?” Malcolm asked him.

“I came here five years ago.”

After looking at their confused faces Trip smiled.

“It’s a long story.”

He was about to lead them to his private chamber when two people from the crowd raced in.

The first one rushed up to Trip.

Trip saw that the man’s throat had been cut!

Like he did five years ago, Trip rested his hand on the man’s wound and it immediately healed.

“Why’d you attack him?” Trip asked.

The man with the knife said, “He attacked me, he killed my wife and family, he deserves to die!”

Trip turned to the man whom he had healed.

“This true?” he asked.

“No, yes,” the man blurted out.

Before Trip could do anything, the man with the knife, cocked his arm and threw his knife directly into the other man’s chest.

The man fell down dead.

“Why’d you kill him?!” Trip asked angrily.

“I challenge you!” the killer said.

Trip knew from ancient law, that if someone challenged you, you had to agree.

He also knew that the fights had to be to the death.

“Agreed.”

Trip threw off his cloak and took out his own small dagger.

The man rushed at him, slashing with a knife he had taken from the guard.

Trip kept moving, always keeping his challenger in his sights. He only hoped he would live to get through this.
