Chapter Ten

Trip entered the brig and walked up to the cell that held Jerod Smith.

He punched open the communications channel.

“So, your friend lived,” Jerod said. It wasn’t a question.

“Yeah, No thanks ta you,” Trip said.

“So, what’s going to happen to me, now?” Jerod asked.

“Enterprise is going ta drop you out of an airlock,” Trip said.

“Very funny, Commander.” Jerod nodded.

“Enterprise is going to ship you back to Starfleet,” Jon said, stepping out of the shadows.

Trip and Jerod both jumped.

“Thought I might find you here, Trip,” Jon said.

“Yes, sir,” Trip replied.

“Well, since you’re here, why don’t you get the prisoner ready for transport? We’ll be docking with the Vulcan ship T’Shara in twelve minutes,” Jon informed him.

“Aye,” Trip replied as he entered the cell and none too gently placed Jerod in cuffs.

The Enterprise undocked from the Vulcan ship quietly.

“There going to warp.” Malcolm said from his station. Phlox had let him out early at the request of the captain, although Phlox was none too happy.

“Thank You, Lieutenant,” Jon replied.

Jon punched open a channel to Trip. “Are we ready?”

“We are rip roarin’ ready to go,” Trip answered.

“Travis, resume course. Warp factor 4.”

“Aye, sir,” Travis replied.

From Engineering, Trip smiled as he felt and heard the engines go to Warp.

He had felt and heard it many times before, and he hoped that he would feel and hear it in the future.

Trip had no idea what was in store for Enterprise, but he was going to be a lot more cautious of the people he would meet, all because of Jerod Smith’s true lies.

most people think i took my name from the matrix when it's actually a nickname i've had since i was 5, before the idea was even thought up.
