Chapter Two

Trip watched as the doors to the launch bay closed.

“Hope he’ll be alright,” Trip said to Malcolm

Malcolm nodded. “So do I, commander.”

Trip and Malcolm carefully went through the little pieces of debris that they had.

Trip lifted a piece off the ground. He looked at it, then looked at the ground where it had lain. There was a little depression where the acid had eaten away at the floor.

Trip called Malcolm over and pointed the spot out to him.

“That’s not good,” Malcolm said as Trip placed the debris back on the floor and removed his gloves.

“At the rate it’s moving, it will take another ten hours before it completely eats away at the floor,” Trip said.

Malcolm nodded. “We have until then to find out what it is, and how to stop it.”

The doors to the launch bay opened and two young lieutenants came in, pushing a small cart with containers in it.

Trip watched as the lieutenants stopped the cart and grabbed one of the containers.

Malcolm and Trip each took a container and began loading the debris into them.

“Wouldn’t the debris eat through these things?” Trip asked.

“These containers have been specially made for this,” Malcolm answered as he sealed up the last container.

Trip and Malcolm nodded to the lieutenants as Trip grabbed the cart.

“Where da you want this?” he asked.

“I’ll show you,” Malcolm said.

Trip nodded as Malcolm led his to the storage room.
