Chapter Two

Trip worked on the cell-ship, prepping it for launch. He turned around as the doors opened.

In walked Jon, pad in hand.

“Capn’,” Trip greeted.

“Trip, what are you doing?” Jon asked.

“I have ta go back. I have ta find her,” Trip began.

“Who? That girl?” Jon asked.

“Her name’s Xerion,” Trip said. “I’ll be back in a few hours, sir.”

“I can’t let you go,” Jon said.

Trip, who had been about to hop into the shuttle, turned around to face his captain.

“Don’t make ma do somthin’ I’ll regret, sir,” Trip begged.

Jon walked to a companel.

“Malcolm. Dispatch a security detail to Launch Bay 1,” Jon ordered.

Malcolm’s voice came over the speakers. “Aye. Sir.”

Trip turned and ran up the gangway and signaled the computer for manual launch door release.

A computerized voice filled the chamber.

“Please clear the launch bay. 90 seconds to bay door opening.”

Trip rushed back down the ramp.

He tried to enter the cell ship again.

Jon raised a small phase pistol.

“Trip, stop,” he ordered.

Trip turned.

“Sorry, sir.”

Trip concentrated, imagining the blood flow in Jon’s head slow.

Jon stepped back, clutching his head in agony.

Trip released his hold and clamored back into the cell ship.

Jon exited the Launch Bay a split second before the doors opened.

Trip guided the cell ship out of Enterprise and toward the small anomaly that would take him back to his true love.
