Black Soul 2 - Chapter 4Black Soul 2 by The One Disclaimers in Chapter 1 *** Chapter Four
“It is the antidote.” Phlox gazed down at what she had written. “Who told you this?” “Commander Tucker told me to write it down.” Phlox looked from T’Pol to the pad and back again. “What’s it say?” Malcolm asked. “It says the antidote is to move the Commander’s body to a cold environment!” Malcolm looked confused. “That’s it? What good would moving the Commander do?” Dr. Phlox shook his head. “If you do not remove the Commander to a cooler place within the next two hours he will die.” T’Pol said. Dr. Phlox looked from T’Pol to Trip. “It will take some time to move the Commander. We have to get the Cold Storage chamber ready.” “How long will that take?” Malcolm asked. “At least one hour.” Dr. Phlox replied. “That’s cutting it close, doctor,” Reed pointed out. “I’m aware of the Lieutenant but there is no way I can do it any faster.” Phlox shot back. “Is there anything that I can do?” Malcolm asked Phlox. “Yes, you and T’Pol can prep the Commander for the storage room, while Ensign Cutler and I prep the storage area.” Malcolm and T’Pol nodded and got to work. **** With ten minutes to spare, Dr. Phlox and Malcolm Reed rushed the gurney down the corridor. Trip Tucker’s motionless body rocked to the right a little as they rounded a sharp corner. The storage room was up ahead. They sped into the room coming to a screeching halt, the wind ruffled Ensign Cutler’s hair as they carefully moved Trip’s body off the gurney and onto a cold, blue platform. They took a few readings then filed out. Now all they had to do was wait. ***** *Six hours later*
Dr. Phlox cleared his throat and spoke. “Commander Tucker is dead,” he said. Everyone around the table gasped then stared at their meals. Finally Jon and Malcolm spoke. “When?” they chorused. “Ten minutes ago. Commander Tucker’s vital signs were stable then his heart collapsed under the stress.” Jon nodded then got up and left. Dr. Phlox watched him leave.
