Letter #11, End of February, 2153

We rescued some Denobulan geologists from a planet of the verge of war. I discovered Denobulans can climb walls without ropes and that there are caves with no concession stands or hand rails. Sorry, weak joke.

Guess I’m not up to writing. It’s been a hard couple of weeks. Maybe I need to get some sleep. I’ll be in touch.

Letter #12, March 25, 2153

Thanks for attending A.G.’s memorial service. I know it was an odd thing to ask you to do, but he and I and the Captain went back a ways – had some adventures. I can’t believe his is gone. He was so full of life.

A friend died a few weeks ago, someone I knew only a short while but who meant a lot to me. I have regrets. I can’t imagine not knowing him, which is the irony of the whole thing. I thought I was simply helping him, but in the process befriended him, which ultimately led to his death. I know this makes no sense. Believe me, it is too confusing and too sad.

Enough of all this death. I want to remember some good times – when I met the Captain, A.G., Admiral Forrest, Ruby. I want to remember the bar where we hung out and working on the warp two engine, working together and for a purpose. All those separate things led me out here, where I love it. The Captain and Subcommander went to view of dark nebula. I made the charges to illuminate it, and I understand it was quite beautiful. I wish I could have seen it, too. It’s why I’m out here – speed and space! Two of my loves.

Well, this ship must be a magnet for alien invasion of all types. I can’t believe in all the years you traveled you never were invaded by microbes which turned you into a food-grubbing animal, and that none of your crew were ever kidnapped, let alone kidnapped at least once a month. But hey, on Enterprise we do get to put the engines and our tracking abilities to the test, and we have learned to outwit a score of species and other air-borne organisms. Maybe someday all this experience will come in real handy. I can hardly wait. And, with all our adventures, no one has been seriously hurt. Here’s knocking on wood.

Gotta run. Thanks again for going to the service. Say hello to the Admiral and Ruby.

Later.

AN: The next episode is the Expanse, and I don’t know what will happen, so I’m stopping the letters here. I hope you enjoyed. Thanks for reading.

I am half expecting you to re-name this series 'Postcards From the Edge'. They seem to be getting shorter in length which is a pity but do capture that essence of Trip which I love so much. Can't wait to see your reaction to the next episode. This is a damn good series you are writing, thanks. Ali D :~)

...Hey, isn't the next episode after First Flight, _Bounty_? Awwww. And he wa in command the entire time.

I've really loved this series. It's been funny and has given some interesting insights into events on Enterprise. I've particularly enjoyed seeing how Trip's mood has changed over the course of the letters; that's not easy to catch but you did it wonderfully. Poor boy, he's not very happy at the moment is he? And he's stopped mentioning T'Pol in every other line - that's really got me worried! Thank you - I'm glad I saved the final few letters until I had a quiet moment to appreciate them.

I enjoyed this series very much, myst. You did a terrific job!

I'm sorry the last two letters were so short, but that's how it would be, what with all the stuff that's happened to Trip in the last few episodes of last season. Here's hoping he'll recover.

Are you going to start new letters with the new season? Pppplllease? (as Roger Rabbit would say)

Awesome letters! It told the story of season 2 in a very creative way...I wish I could see the letter he wrote during the expanse!

I'm just exploring this area of the site and discovered these letters. Wonderful Myst! I really enjoyed them. Captured Trip so well, and his feelings about the stuff going on around them. Really lovely.

Would you believe I just discovered these letters after all these months I have been following the Trip/T'Polers and Soval's Annex sites? It was because of the thread on HotBB were authors said what were their best stories.

Well it helps me in trying to finish up my Kov story. I have some parts I like but other parts of my story just don't work yet. Your letters are great. My story picks up with the Expanse episode and I only have Kov coming to Earth at about that time and meeting a member of Trip's family. I may change that to use your letters as a backstory. I am not sure about that, but I really like your letters!
